Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the deadline for consideration?

You must apply for admission to the Institute by the Early Action deadline.

Is there anything else I need to do to apply?

No, simply apply to Georgia Tech before the Early Action deadline.

However, please note that if you should advance in the selection process, you will be required to participate in semifinal interviews in late December – early January if you are a Georgia resident, or in late January if you are a non-Georgia resident. In keeping with the best practices of the nation's most prestigious scholarship programs, we regret that no interviews will be scheduled on alternate dates. If you should become a finalist, you must participate in ALL activities all day Friday and Saturday in mid-March. Again, we regret that no interviews will be scheduled on alternate dates.

Is applying to Tech by the Early Action deadline binding in any way?

No, Georgia Tech and the Stamps President's Scholars/Gold Scholars Program do not offer an early decision option. The Early Action admission due date simply allows for consideration of your application in the scholarship competition. Early submission of an admission application in no way binds you to attend Tech, if accepted. You will have until May 1 to choose to enroll at Tech and accept the Stamps President’s Scholarship, if selected.

I have a conflict with my scheduled semifinalist/finalist interview. Can I reschedule?

No. Because the Stamps President's Scholars/Gold Scholars Programs are so highly sought after, we cannot allow students to reschedule interviews when they have conflicts unless it is for a documented hospitalization or the funeral of an immediate member of their household. Students must make the difficult choice to prioritize their interview or the competing opportunity first. In the case of a student withdrawing due to a conflict, we will often open up a coveted semifinalist or finalist space to another deserving candidate. Finalists must be present for ALL Scholars Weekend activities to receive the SPS or GS award. In keeping with best practices of the nation's most prestigious scholarship programs, we regret that no interviews will be scheduled on alternate dates.

What is the last time I can take the ACT or SAT and have my scores considered?

Testing deadlines vary by decision plan. In order to complete your application more quickly, we highly recommend you self-report your scores via one of two avenues. First, we will consider self-reported scores listed in the Common Application testing section. Additionally, after you submit your application, you will have access to a form in your admission portal to self-report scores.

Is there a minimum SAT/ACT score, GPA, or class rank needed to apply?

No, there is not a definite cut-off for test scores or GPA, although the SAT and ACT middle-50% range for semifinalists is on average 1450 - 1560 and 33 - 35, respectively.

Are SAT subject tests required?

No. SAT subject test scores are used only for course placement after you enroll.

Are transfer applicants or international students eligible?

Only new first-year students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States or citizens of the United Kingdom are eligible.
